Police: Man Stopped For Following Too Closely On I-75 Caught With 88 Fraudulent Credit Cards, Marijuana

DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say a driver who was stopped on I-75 for following too closely was arrested, along with a passenger, when more than 80 fraudulent credit cards were found inside the car.

Police say the incident happened Wednesday in Wayne County, but they declined to specify where.

Troopers with the Special Enforcement Section stopped a passenger car and upon making contact with the driver, detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to police.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, police say troopers located 88 fraudulent credit cards along with a fake ID.

"The fake ID had a picture of one of the occupants and false name that matched the name on the credit cards," police said in a statement.

Troopers also located about five grams of marijuana on the driver.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
