Eastpointe police investigating after multiple people injured in drive-by shooting
EASTPOINTE, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - The Eastpointe Police Department is investigating a Monday night shooting that left multiple people injured, police said.
At 8:57 p.m. on Monday, April 1, officers responded to the 23000 block of Kelly Road after receiving a report of a shooting.
When they arrived, they found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. An investigation revealed that the shooting happened in the 19000 block of Dijon Ave.
The victims told officers that they were parked outside a house on Dijon Avenue when another vehicle pulled up next to them and started shooting.
Several shell casings were found on the road where the shooting happened. Eastpointe police say they interviewed the residents of the home where the shooting took place, but it is unknown if they were involved.
Eastpointe Police Chief Corey Haines confirmed that four victims were hospitalized to be treated for their injuries. One of the victims is pregnant and is in stable condition.
The victims did not give any information about what led to the shooting or who may be responsible for it, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
