Police Identify Gunman Found Dead After 28-Hour Standoff In St. Clair Shores

ST. CLAIR SHORES (CBS DETROIT/AP) — Authorities have released the name of a gunman who wounded two people over the use of fireworks in a St. Clair Shores neighborhood and who is believed to have shot and killed a woman inside a home where he held off police for more than two days.

St. Clair Shores police on Monday say 58-year-old Tom Ihlendfeldt died after shooting himself and that 60-year-old Carol Baur was shot multiple times.

Their bodies were discovered about 2:30 a.m. EDT Saturday following a 28-hour standoff with police. The confrontation started Thursday night after police say Ihlendfeldt shot into a crowd, striking a 62-year-old woman in her calf and a 10-year-old girl in her arm.

Police said Ihlendfeldt then holed up in the basement, firing at officers outside and robots sent into the home.
