Police Identify 2 Men Killed In Related Shootings Near MSU
EAST LANSING (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified two men fatally shot in different locations near the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing.
Police said Tuesday that 35-year-old pharmacist Michael Addo of Mason was killed Monday morning at a Rite Aid store in Lansing Township.
Shot minutes later at his East Lansing home was 27-year-old Jordan Rogers. Rogers was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
A 34-year-old man who lived next door to Rogers was arrested Monday afternoon following an hour-long standoff; and Lansing Police Public Information Officer Robert Merritt says investigators believe the suspect is responsible for both killings.
"An actual motive, we're not releasing at this point," Merritt told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil. "But we are stating that this did not involve a robbery...for money or narcotics," Merritt said.
Merritt said Lansing and East Lansing police, within the next day or two, will be in contact with the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office to determine charges. An arraignment date will be set at that point.
The suspect's name has not been released.
