Police ID Alleged Home Invader Killed In Southgate As 19-Year-Old Neighbor
SOUTHGATE (WWJ/AP) - A man shot dead after police say he broke into a neighbor's Southgate home was only 19 years old.
Police have identified the alleged intruder as James Clickard, who'd been staying next door to an elderly couple prior to the incident, early Thursday morning.
Police said Clickard had climbed through a window of the home in the 15000-block of Flanders, in the area of Eureka and Allen roads. The homeowners, police said, were startled awake; and, when the 74-year-old husband grabbed his gun and went to investigate, he was stunned to find an armed intruder.

According to police, the intruder pointed his gun at the older man, prompting him to fire a shot. Clickard died at the scene.
Police say the homeowner legally owned the gun used in the shooting and that he didn't know Clickard.
Southgate police are investigating the incident with the help of Michigan State Police.
Prosecutors likely will review the case to determine if any charges will be filed.
