Police: Drunk Driving Dad Boozed-Up 13-Year-Old Son Before Hit And Run

ORION TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A father on the run allegedly takes his teenage son along for a drunken drive.

Forty-four year old Steve Fulton, from Kansas, landed in the median at Stadium Drive after rear-ending a car and taking off on Tuesday night.

Police found Fulton's 13-year-old son in the car, which is said to have smelled of alcohol.

It's alleged that Fulton rented a room at the Palace Inn on Lapeer Road and supplied alcohol to his son and two 16-year old girls, from northern Oakland County, just before the accident.

Fulton took off with his son from the Orion Township motel room after one of the girls in the motel room called the cops saying Fulton had made sexual advances.

Both Fulton and the son failed a preliminary breath test; the dad's registered .28 and the teen registered a .13 at the scene.

Neither the dad nor the son were wearing coats or shoes in the subzero temperatures.

Police learned that Fulton had recently left Kansas City as police were investigating him for inappropriate sexual advances on an 11-year-old child.

Fulton was arraigned Friday at the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills on charges of operating while intoxicated -- third offense, driving while license is suspended -- second offense, contributing to the delinquency of children and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

Bond was set at $25,000 and Fulton's been ordered to stay away from kids.

The driver of the car originally hit was not injured.
