Police Chase Ends With Death Of Robbery Suspect In Detroit Home

DETROIT (WWJ) - An alleged robber ends up dead after taking Detroit police on a car chase though the city's west side.

Officers had approached a home invasion suspect on Hayden Street.

Officer Adam Madera spoke with WWJ's Rob Mason about the incident that ended with the death of the suspect.

"When they attempted to investigate him, the individual got into a vehicle and attempted to run over the officers," said Madera. "They then pursued the individual to the Hillsboro address where they were advised by citizens in the neighborhood that the individual ran into a home."

"Four officers entered that home - they observed the individual in a closet he came out pointed a weapon at the officers and the officers ordered him to drop the weapon, he did not and the officers fired upon him, fatally wounding him."

Madera says four officers entered the home. The suspect came out of a closet and pointed a gun. When he refused to drop it - the officers shot and killed the suspect.

No information has been issued regarding the deceased.
