Police: Brazen Troy Bank Robber Strikes Again

TROY (WWJ) - Police in Troy are investigating a bank robbery that might have been pulled off by the same suspect who robbed a different bank earlier this year.

The latest incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the TCF Bank on Big Beaver Road, just east of John R Road.

The suspect, a white male in his 40s, entered the bank and demanded money, according to police. A weapon was implied but not seen. The bank teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the scene. No one was injured.

The suspect was wearing a black baseball hat and grey hooded sweatshirt with black tape over the logos, and gray pants with possible black loafer shoes. He also had an unknown type of dust or debris on his hat.

Investigators believe the suspect is the same man responsible for a bank robbery that occurred in April at the TCF Bank on Coolidge near Maple Road. During that incident, the suspect's coat was covered with an unknown type of dust or debris that is similar to the substance on the suspect's hat during the recent robbery.

After the April crime, the FBI put up a $2,500 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest.

Police say the suspect is 5'9" to 5'11" tall with a medium build and possibly brown hair.

Anyone with information on either incident or the suspect is urged to contact police at 248-524-3477 or the FBI at 313-965-2323.
