Police Await Cause Of Death Of Man Found In Tent Near Train Station
ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - Police are awaiting details on the cause of death for a 39-year-old man found dead in a tent near Ann Arbor's Amtrak station.
Police Chief John Seto updated city council members Wednesday about the man's death, which was discovered Monday. Seto said a cause of death for the apparently homeless man doesn't appear to be exposure, however.
Officers were called to the scene, near the train station on Depot Street, around 8:30 p.m. by the man's girlfriend and her father. There was a heating source in the tent, but it wasn't turned on, The Ann Arbor News reported.
Police reportedly found drug paraphernalia at the scene.
The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner's Office plans to release a cause of death after toxicology tests are complete, which could take a few weeks.
