Police: 2 Dead After Crash Into Closed Michigan School

MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - Police say an SUV crashed through the wall of a Michigan school that was closed for the night, killing two passengers and injuring the driver.

Midland police responded about 2:40 a.m. Tuesday to Midland Academy following a report of the crash.

The Saginaw News reports two died after the vehicle went out of control, ran off the road and flattened trees before crossing a parking lot. Police say classes were cancelled for the day Tuesday.

Police say Jeep Liberty's driver was treated and a hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Kathy Eurich, dean of students, tells the Midland Daily News she received a call from the school's alarm company and arrived to find rescue crews on the scene. She says classroom-area damage at the school was "shocking" to see.]
