Plans Call For 2-Story Community Bath House In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (AP) - Plans are in the works for a two-story community bath house in downtown Ann Arbor.

The Ann Arbor Planning Commission voted 5-0 Tuesday night in favor of plans for Sun Baths, which would be built on a vacant site.

The plans head to City Council for review. The Ann Arbor News reports the estimated cost of construction is $3.5 million.

The building would contain a mix of common bath and sauna areas, as well as smaller private bath spaces. There also would be a larger pool area.

Peter Woolf, owner of Sun Baths, says the aim is to create "more of a meditative environment, something almost like a sacred space."
