Pilot, Children Walk Away From Small Plane Crash Unscathed

MARINE CITY (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a 59-year-old pilot and his three children miraculously avoided injury when their plane crashed at a St. Clair County airport.

The crash happened Friday afternoon at Marine City Airport, about 10 miles east of I-94 and 26 Mile Road.

The pilot, whose lives in East China Township, told investigators that he was landing his Cessna 172 Skyhawk when a wind gust flipped the aircraft over. The pilot and his children - ages 18, 12 and 10 - got out of the plane unharmed.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is investigating the crash.
