Pedestrian Killed, Hit By Car On Michigan Ave. In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A man is dead after reportedly walking into traffic Monday morning on Michigan Avenue in Detroit.
Detroit police say the driver of the Chevy Cruze that hit the man — along eastbound Michigan Ave. at Martin St, just before 7 a.m. — stopped and the scene and called 911.
The man, who was wearing dark clothes, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Reports say the man was in his 50s or 60s, but his name hasn't been released. People who work in the area say it was dark and hard to at the time of the accident.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area following the crash, but the intersections has since reopened.
An investigation is ongoing.
