Parolee Turns Self In To West Bloomfield Police After Hours Long Search
WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - A frantic search for a parolee in West Bloomfield ended peacefully, early Wednesday evening.
Police, earlier in the day, put out word they were on the hunt for a 24-year-old man who they said might be armed, with officers focused on the area of 14 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Northwestern Highway.
Although police did not describe the man as a danger to the public, police spent several hours searching for him after, at around 2 p.m., receiving a call from his parole agent who said he'd violated the conditions of his parole. Police said his agent was concerned for the man's welfare.
According to West Bloomfield Police Lt. Curt Lawson, the man voluntarily turned himself in to police, assisted by corrections agents, in the arws of Northcote and Edinbourough Dr. He was in custody before 6 p.m.
His name and the details of his case were not immediately released.
Despite all the police activity, 14 Mile Road remained open to traffic during the investigation.
