Parkway Foods Creates An Open Market Feel In The Middle Of The City
DETROIT (WWJ) - If you're looking for fresh groceries -- meats, fruits, veggies -- in the city of Detroit, the pickins' are getting more generous.
Parkway Foods has opened for business along Jefferson and St. Jean on the city's east side and owner Vince Nona says the customers appreciate a neighborhood supermarket.
Parkway Foods took over the Farmer Jack and spent about six months renovating the site and has already had great customer response reports WWJ's Mike Campbell.
"It was much-needed in the city, you know the people in the city of Detroit needed a store like this around here," said Nona.
He says although Parkway has been in the city for almost half a century, this store provides the supermarket experience with more variety and selection.
"People love the atmosphere, they love the environment, they love the look of the store ... we wanted to give it that old world feel."
Brick and limestone pave the way for that old world, open market feeling.
