Owner Selling 1887 Schoolhouse; Now Has 4 Bedrooms
ONEIDA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A home for sale in the Lansing area comes with much history. There's a bell that summoned kids to school more than 100 years ago and a ledger with a teacher's handwritten notes.
Holly Way's home in Eaton County's Oneida Township was a one-room schoolhouse until 1954. She bought it in 2002, renovated and expanded it and lived there with three children. Now it's on the market for $158,000.
The brick school was built in 1887, and the wood floors go back to the 1920s. It was used as a craft shop before Way bought it. She tells the Lansing State Journal that the home "has got a ton of character."
She says the history will "tug at people's heart strings."
