Olympic Hockey: Russia Practices Without Datsyuk

LARRY LAGE, AP Hockey Writer

SOCHI, Russia (AP) — The Russians are practicing for the first time since NHL players arrived for the Olympics, and captain Pavel Datsyuk is the only skater not on the ice.

An injury recently kept Datsyuk out of the Detroit Red Wings' lineup for more than a month.

The star forward posed for a team picture Monday in full uniform before skating off the ice.

Datsyuk was in Detroit's last two games before the Olympic break, playing less than he usually does. It was the first time he played since the Winter Classic on New Year's Day.

The Red Wings have said he has a lower-body injury, apparently to his left knee.
