Officials ID Woman Whose Body Found Stabbed, Stuffed Inside Bedroom Closet

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities have identified a woman whose body was stuffed into a bedroom closet after she was murdered on Detroit's east side.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's office on Saturday said 21-year-old Tiris Ranee Doss was killed in a homicide, with an official cause of death being sharp force injury to the neck.

Doss's body was discovered Friday morning a home in the 14100 block of East State Fair, in a neighborhood just west of Gratiot Avenue. Police responded to the home after receiving a 911 call about family trouble. When officers arrived on the scene, they reportedly saw a large pool of blood through a window and forced their way inside the home. Doss' lifeless body was found inside a bedroom closet. She had been stabbed, according to police.

A 24-year-old man who was trying to flee from the home was apprehended by police at the scene. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the suspect is the woman's brother-in-law.

Charges against the suspect are pending.
