Michigan State Police provides details on shooting that injured Lincoln Park officer, suspect

(CBS DETROIT) - A Lincoln Park officer and a suspect were injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The shooting happened in the 26400 block of Outer Drive in Lincoln Park. The officer and suspect are listed in stable condition, according to Michigan State Police

MSP says its Special Investigation Section is responding to the scene.

MSP Lt. Mike Shaw says officers were conducting a narcotics investigation in the area when the suspect involved started running. Shaw says multiple officers and the suspect exchanged gunfire, resulting in one officer and the suspect being hit.

It is unknown how many shots were fired.

Shaw says an investigation is ongoing.
