NEXT round of winter weather to move through Southeast Michigan Friday

NEXT Weather Forecast December 1, 2023 (Morning)

(CBS DETROIT) - A winter weather system started moving through the area late Thursday night and is expected to last through Friday afternoon.

Widespread precipitation is expected to impact all of us Friday morning, with rain favoring most areas. A wintry mix for the central suburbs and mainly snow across our northern areas will still be possible.

Detailing out who gets which kind of precipitation as of Friday morning looks like the following:

  • South of I-94: those areas can expect widespread rain with little to no wintry mix.
  • Near M-59: a wintry mix of rain and snow.
  • Snow is expected mainly for our northern zones, most likely along and north of I-69.

Visibility will also fluctuate throughout the day, and roadways will be poor sometimes, so travel with caution.

Time frame:

Widespread rain is moving through this morning, picking up in intensity during the late morning and early afternoon.

Switching over to rain/snow anywhere north of M-59 as the system spreads northeast closer to lunch-time.

Most of the significant precipitation will wind down around 3 p.m. before another batch of rain moves in around 9 a.m. Even that cluster will be soaking rainfall.
