New Poll Shows Ben Carson Leads Hillary Clinton In Michigan

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit native Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson appears to be leading the pack when it comes to Michigan voters.

A new poll conducted by Denno Research shows if the 2016 election were held today, Carson would beat Democrat Hillary Clinton. When the choices are between Clinton and Donald Trump, Clinton has an eight point lead. In both situations, there are about a quarter of those polled who say they are undecided.

When up against Carson, Clinton only received 38 percent support from female voters, but that increased to 47 percent against Trump. While Carson got the support of 37 percent of self-identified Independents, Trump only got 29 percent; and, against Carson, Clinton only got 27 percent of Independent voters, but against Trump she was supported by 34 percent.

The poll of 600 voters was taken last week.

Taking a nationwide look at where likely voters stand, results of a Quinnipiac University National poll out last week shows Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon, with a 10-point lead over Clinton, 50 to 40 percent.
