Motorcyclist In Critical Condition After Crashing On I-94
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Authorities say a motorcyclist is fighting for his life after crashing into a vehicle on I-94 that was re-entering the freeway from the shoulder.
The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Friday on eastbound I-94 near 12 Mile Road in Roseville.
According to police, a vehicle that had been stopped on the right shoulder of I-94 was re-entering the roadway in the right lane when the driver "observed through his rear-view a motorcycle approaching at what appeared to be a high rate of speed."
The motorcycle crashed into the rear of the vehicle and the rider, a 46-year-old Macomb County man, was ejected from the bike. He was taken to St. John Hospital in Detroit and last listed in critical condition.
The other driver was uninjured.
Police say it's not yet known if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The freeway was shut down for about three hours, but has since reopened.
