DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit mother and her former boyfriend have been sentenced to prison in the death of her 7-year-old son.
WDIV-TV reports that a Wayne County judge ordered Victoria Foster to spend 27 to 50 years in prison for torture and child abuse, and 5 to 15 years for involuntary manslaughter.
Cory Rimson was sentenced to 10 to 15 years for manslaughter and 5 to 10 years for child abuse.
Immanuel Foster died Oct. 24, 2014 at a hospital after complaining of abdominal pain and losing consciousness. He had bruises on his body, was malnourished and weighed 27 pounds at the time of his death.
Victoria Foster had told police she had left her son with Rimson while she worked in Saginaw and wasn't aware of the abuse.
