Monroe County Man Answers Knock At Door, Gets Stabbed

MAYBEE, Mich. (WWJ) - Authorities in Monroe County are searching for a suspect after a man answered a knock at his front door and was stabbed.

It happened at around 4 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 7700 block of Short Street in the village of Maybee.

The stabber — described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, about 6 feet tall, with a muscular build — fled the scene. He's wanted on a charge of felonious assault.

The 53-year-old victim, who suffered a single stab wound to his upper chest, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Although they're not talking about a motive for the stabbing, Monroe County Sheriff's officials say it doesn't appear to have been a random act of violence. They believe victim was specifically targeted.

Sheriff's deputies and detectives are following tips and leads as an investigation continues. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
