Missing Siberian Huskies Stolen In Van Reunited With Family

DETROIT (WWJ) - The last of three Siberian huskies that were inside a van stolen in Ann Arbor is back with her family safe and sound.

According to police, thieves made of with the Ford Econoline van Friday from a hotel parking lot and then dumped the dogs — owned by a Chicago-area woman visiting Michigan for a dog show — and then ditched the vehicle in Detroit, setting off a frantic search for the missing huskies.

Two of the dogs were found Sunday, WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports it was thanks to a tip from a WWJ Newsradio 950 listener that a third, 6-year-old Mandy, was found Monday near Livernois and the Lodge on Detroit's west side.

"We blocked her right here in the middle of the street, going up on the sidewalk, and she didn't want to come to me because she didn't know who I was," said Bill Pryzbulski, who joined in an emotional reunion with Mandy and his wife, Theresa Pryzbulski.

"She was in mode, survival mode. I finally had to block her in with the car and get out and talk to her, and she finally walked to me and I grabbed her by the neck," he said. "And once I had her she was never gonna get free. I don't care how dirty she was. It was the greatest moment of my life!"

Mandy will be checked out by a veterinarian but appears to be fine.

The couple thanked volunteers and the woman who called in the successful tip.

"I think once I get home I'm probably gonna just lose it, but through the whole thing I'm just overwhelmed by all the help and the good people who have been calling and searching," Theresa Pryzbulski said. "...The outpouring to help me get my dogs back, has just been absolutely incredible. All I can say is thank you Detroit!"
