Missing Detroit Teen Found At Homeless Shelter

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 19-year-old Detroit man who went missing Friday was found safe and sound. Police discovered Onajae Jones at a homeless shelter in the city on Monday.

Jones walked away from his home near Schoolcraft and Greenfield. His mother, Shawna Lancaster, was especially worried because Jones suffered a head injury as a child, leaving him with the mental capacity of a 9-year-old.

"I don't know if he befriended some people in the neighborhood, you know, bad seeds in the neighborhood, or something, but I know the day before he was gone all day hanging out … he said he was with his friends. And so the next morning I went to work and when I come home he wasn't here," said Lancaster.

Lancaster said that she is extremely grateful for the help of Detroit police and the media.
