Missing Dearborn Man's Car Found Abandoned On Belle Isle
DEARBORN (WWJ) - A missing man's family is planning to search Belle Isle in Detroit after his car was found abandoned on the island park.
Relatives say 24-year-old Sajjad Almayali was last seen around 11 a.m. Tuesday when he left his home in Dearborn. He also left behind his phone.
Almayali's brother went out looking for him and wound up finding his car around 3 p.m. Wednesday, abandoned on Belle Isle. His car keys, wallet and jewelry were left inside the car and all doors were locked.
Family and friends spent Wednesday night and all day Thursday searching for any clues that could lead to Almayali's whereabouts, but have so far found no signs of him. Relatives say this is the first time anything like this has happened with Almayali.
Family members say a search will resume at 7 a.m. Friday, starting at the entrance of Belle Isle park, and will continue as necessary.
Michigan State Police and DNR Conservation officers are involved in the investigation. A dive team reportedly searched an area near where the car was found, but crews came up empty-handed.
Anyone with information on Almayali's whereabouts is urged to contact police at 248-584-5740.
