Millions Of Google Passwords Reportedly Leaked
By Edward Cardenas
SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Nearly five million Google Gmail usernames and passwords were reportedly leaked to a Russian Bitcoin forum Tuesday, Mashable reported.
The Gmail address and passwords appear to be old, the report stated, and may not belong to the accounts. Time reports that the 4.93 million accounts were from English, Spanish and Russian-speaking users.
Google told the Mashable that the company has "no evidence that our systems have been compromised."
Computer experts quoted in the story reviewed the file, and found that email addresses and passwords didn't match.
Despite the fact that emails and passwords don't match, experts quoted in the story recommend having long passwords with characters. Additionally, have a two-factor authentication service which makes accounts more secure.
Time added that this leak comes after a hack of Russian-based email accounts.
