Miguel Cabrera: 'Doors Are Open' If Good Trade Comes Along
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- The Detroit Tigers might not go in full "fire sale" mode, but general manager Al Avila made it clear that the team is trying to shed payroll.
That means that everyone is on the table as far as trades go, including superstars and fan-favorites Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander.
Cabrera recently spoke to Venezuelan baseball writer Andriw Sánchez Ruiz and said that he would be open to a trade if a good opportunity presents itself.

Rumors have swirled that every player on the Tigers roster is fair game on the trade market, but that the front office might be asking for the world as far as what it gets in return.
Asked yesterday if he was hearing anything about the Tigers, one American League scout said, "(They) want too much." And: "Way too much."

Cabrera came to Detroit in 2008 as a part of a blockbuster deal with the Florida Marlins that sennt top prospects Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller to Florida.
Since joining the Tigers, Cabrera ranks among some of the team's all-time greats -- he's fifth in batting average (.325), third in home runs (308), tenth in doubles (340), eleventh in hits (1677), first in intentional walks (150) and eighth in extra base hits (655).
The Tigers ranked fourth in the MLB in total payroll in 2016. Cabrera signed an eight-year, $248 million contract extension with the Tigers in 2014. He's due to make $28 million in 2017.
