Miguel Cabrera Cleared To Ditch Walking Boot

CBS DETROIT - Only a few days after an MLB.com report that Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was scheduled to remain in a walking boot until mid-February, the two-time MVP posted on Instagram announcing he was free of the boot.
Cabrera underwent offseason surgery that addressed bone spurs in his ankle and a stress fracture in his foot. Detroit's head athletic trainer Kevin Rand had said Monday, per MLB.com, that Cabrera was unlikely to be ready for the start of spring training and that his status for Opening Day was uncertain.
After Cabrera posted the picture, Rand confirmed Cabrera has been cleared to leave the walking boot in the dust.
Miguel Cabrera has been cleared to come out of his walking boot and wear a normal tennis shoe around, Tigers trainer Kevin Rand said.

Cabrera cleared by Dr. Robert Anderson, who performed surgery on his ankle and foot earlier this offseason. Next exam in mid-February.

Despite the bone spurs and stress fracture that plagued him throughout the 2014 season, Cabrera missed only three games and finished the year with a batting average of .313 and 25 home runs.
