CBS DETROIT - University of Michigan students who bought season tickets for 2014 paid $280 plus a $15 processing fee. After a half-season of turmoil for the Wolverines, the school announced Thursday that students who buy season tickets for 2015 will pay $175 plus a $10 processing fee.
The seven home games for which students forked over $295 this season did not include Notre Dame, Ohio State or Michigan State. The Wolverines host both the Spartans and the Buckeyes in 2015.
The 37.5-percent decrease brings the price of the student season ticket package close to the price charged by Michigan State, the defending Big Ten champion and Michigan's in-state rival.
"This new pricing is the result of positive dialogue between our students and the athletic department," athletic director Dave Brandon stated in a press release. "This price adjustment is another example of our commitment to continue building a stronger connection with our students and the university community."
The school also announced that there will be no reduction in non-student season ticket prices.
