Michigan Man Charged In Murders Of Elderly Women In Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) - A second man accused in the fatal shootings of two women in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise has been transported to Arizona from Michigan.

Records indicate that 23-year-old Montez Lavelle Wright III was booked into a Maricopa County jail late Thursday.

Wright was arrested in Southfield, Michigan, where authorities have said he's from. He was extradited from Pontiac, Michigan.

An indictment charges Wright with 1st degree murder, burglary, theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and theft of a means of transportation.

Wright appeared in court Friday. He didn't have an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

A 24-year-old Goodyear man, Andrew Thomas Lauro, also faces murder and other charges stemming from the killings of 70-year-old Barbara Leslie of Surprise and 75-year-old Ruth Schwed of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
