Man with Knives Fatally Shot by Troy Officer (Updated)

TROY, Mich. (AP) - A knife-wielding man has been shot to death as he ran at police officers outside a suburban Detroit home.

Troy Lt. Josh Jones said an officer fired four to five shots Monday morning after a stun gun failed to stop the man who refused to drop two knives.

The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name was expected to be released later.

Officers arrived about 7:30 a.m. after a family member called 911 to report the man being "assaultive" inside the home, north of Detroit.

Jones said the man attempted to get into a police vehicle, but the officer inside locked the door. He then charged other officers outside their vehicles.

Jones said officers had been called to the home on three other occasions since last July.
