Man Wearing Police Tracker Charged With Murder
DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit man located through an electronic tether he wasn't required to wear has been charged with first-degree murder in the robbery and slaying of another man.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Friday that 21-year-old Doyle Mims is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Sa-Jad Al-Jabur was shot in the head Tuesday after two men got into his car. The two men drove away in another car, but police tracked Mims by the tether he had on for a separate criminal case. He had been released from tether monitoring and placed on probation in that case.
Authorities also used the tracker to confirm he was in the area of Tuesday's shooting when it occurred.
It is unclear if Mims is represented by an attorney.
