Man Upset About Bill Pulls Gun On Dearborn Dentist
DEARBORN (WWJ) - A man upset about his dental bill was arrested after police say he pulled a gun at a Dearborn dentists' office.
It happened at the Advanced Dental Clinic on Ford Road around at around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Police said the 73-year-old Dearborn man, apparently enraged about his bill, started arguing with the clerk. The disagreement escalated and the suspect allegedly drew a pistol and threatened a dentist.
That's when, police said, a clinic employee grabbed the man and the pair struggled over the weapon. It went off, but no one was injured.
Others in the office helped subdue the suspect and he was taken into custody by Dearborn police. When the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Wayne County Prosecutors office for possible criminal charges, police said.
In a statement, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad expressed his concerns for all of those involved, adding that he was glad no one was hurt during this dangerous situation.
"If it were not for the quick actions of the citizens involved, this incident could have been a tragedy," Haddad said.
The man's name was not immediately released.
