Man Killed, Teen Shot While Playing Dice Game On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for the gunmen who killed a young man and seriously wounded two others, including a 14-year-old, on the city's west side.

The shooting took place just after 12 a.m. Friday at a home in the 14500 block of Robson, in a neighborhood near Greenfield Road and Grand River Avenue.

Police said the three victims were playing a game of dice when the suspects pulled up in two vehicles, got out and started shooting.

A 22-year-old man was declared dead at the scene. The teenager and a 20-year-old man were transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Police say the surviving victims aren't cooperating and refuse to give any information about the suspects.

A woman who only wanted to be identified as Jazz, was among a large crowd of family and friends gathered around the house in the aftermath. She said the man killed was her friend's brother.

"He was a good guy. He had kids. I just don't understand," she told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

Jazz said the senseless violence in the community has gotten out of hand.

"When you live young and, you know, there's just so much black on black crime and it's just young people just, it's just can't nobody live. It's sad. It's ridiculous," she said.

Police were not immediately able to provide a detailed description of the suspects, but are hoping someone will speak up.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
