Man Killed In Northern Oakland County Motorcycle Crash

HOLLY TWP. (WWJ) - A 37-year-old Holly man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding struck a guard rail in northern Oakland County.

Michigan State Police are investigating the crash that happened at around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday along Grand Hall Road between N. Holly Rd. and Riviera Shores Dr. in Holly Township.

Police say the now deceased rider was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck the rail. That's when he flew off his bike and landed in the road. Police say the man's motorcycle struck a vehicle that was traveling westbound and then struck another motorcycle knocking that rider to the ground.

The first rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers reported he was wearing a helmet but did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

Police said driver of the second motorcycle suffered only minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The driver of the vehicle involved wasn't hurt.

Grand Hall Rd. was closed for hours at the scene for an accident investigation but reopened at 2 a.m.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
