Man Gets Prison For Shooting That Left Girlfriend Paralyzed
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit man will spend three years in prison for shooting his girlfriend in the head, leaving her partially paralyzed.
Twenty-two year-old Oshae Ricky Thomas claimed the shooting of 17-year-old Marche Lowe at her Chesterfield Township home back in May was accidental.
Thomas originally reported a white man shot Lowe and took off in a car, but later admitted to police he was twirling a 40-caliber semi-automatic on his finger when it went off.
Thomas pleaded guilty to charges of filing a false report, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and negligent use of a firearm causing injury. He was sentenced to 18-24 months in prison, in addition to a mandatory 2-year term for the firearm charge. He'll receive credit for 226 days served.
