2 arrested after man found shot to death in Warren backyard, police say
(CBS DETROIT) - Two people were arrested Friday after a man was found shot to death in the backyard of a Warren home, police say.
Warren police responded to a report of shots fired in the 11000 block of Paige Avenue around 2:12 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man who had sustained several gunshot wounds. The pain was pronounced dead on the scene from his injuries.
Investigators spoke with several people on the scene and learned that the shooting might have happened as a result of an earlier domestic violence incident involving the victim, his ex-girlfriend and possibly family members of the ex-girlfriend.
The investigation led police to a residence on the 11000 block of Jewett Street, where police said they found multiple people, including young children.
Police activated the special response team for safety measures in their attempts to make contact with the people inside the residence. Ultimately, police found two women inside the home. The women were detained and are speaking with investigators.
Officials say through an additional investigation, they learned that a 32-year-old male relative of one of the women questioned was likely involved in the shooting. Police arrested the man at a residence in the 27000 block of Thomas Street.
Another woman was also brought to the police station for additional questioning.
Police say this is an ongoing investigation but there is no active threat to the community.
