Man Charged In Gang Clash That Killed 17-Year-Old
YPSILANTI (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have filed attempted murder charges against a 19-year-old Washtenaw County man for his role in a gang fight that left a 17-year-old boy dead.
Keandre Duff was arraigned Wednesday on the charges, which include carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm during a felony. Magistrate Elisha Fink set his bond at $70,000 and ordered that Duff get a court-appointed lawyer. A probable cause hearing was set for July 10.
During the hearing, Duff, a Ypsilanti Township man who had been living in Detroit, told the magistrate that he's on probation for marijuana possession and faces marijuana delivery and gun-buying charges in circuit court. He faces a July 15 pretrial in that case.
So far, no one has been charged with firing the shot that killed Keon Washington.
Ypsilanti police told The Ann Arbor News that a 17-year-old boy picked up earlier as a suspect in Washington's death has since been released.
Washington was killed early Saturday morning during an apparent argument between two rival cliques outside of a house party in the 500 block of Madison Street, near South Huron Street and I-94. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the teen lying in a pool of blood in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
