Man Charged In Daughter's Accidental Shooting On Hunting Trip

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) - A 43-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of his 12-year-old daughter during a hunting trip.

Jose Enrique Lefebre-Toro was arraigned Thursday in 91st District Court in Sault Ste. Marie.

Television station WPBN-WTOM identifies Lefebre-Toro as Shellsea Lefebre's father. Shellsea was killed Sept. 21 when a rifle accidentally fired from the front seat of a vehicle she was riding in on Drummond Island, about 50 miles southeast of Sault. Ste. Marie.

The rifle was not in a case and the safety was off.

Authorities have said the girl was in the back seat with two adults and another child.

Lefebre-Toro's preliminary examination is Nov. 20. The Associated Press could not find a phone number for Lefebre-Toro. Court records did not list an attorney.
