Man Accused Of Shooting Michigan Troopers Takes Plea Deal

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (AP) - A man who authorities say shot and wounded two state troopers as they tried to serve a warrant at a home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has entered a plea agreement.

Fifty-year-old Richard Goodreau of Norway likely will spend at least 20 years in prison as part of the deal finalized Thursday. Sentencing is scheduled for March 14.

The Daily News of Iron Mountain reports Goodreau pleaded no contest to five felony counts of assault with intent to murder and one felony firearm charge, and guilty to three felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material.

Police say the attack happened in February in Norway as police tried to serve an arrest warrant. One trooper was treated at a hospital and released, while the other sought treatment independently.
