Madison Heights Catholic School Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student Waives Hearing

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ/AP) - A former Catholic high school teacher charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student has waived her right to a probable-cause hearing.

Kathryn Ronk made a brief appearance Wednesday in Madison Heights District Court. The 29-year-old's case was bound over to circuit court.

Ronk, who taught Spanish at Bishop Foley High School faces five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. She's also been charged with possession of child sexually abusive material and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Authorities say she engaged in sexual acts with the teenager in classrooms at the Madison Heights school, where she no longer is employed and also  in a car in Sterling Heights and at the victim's Macomb Township home.

A message seeking comment was left with her lawyer on Wednesday.

No date has been set yet for her next court appearance.

She remains free on bond on the condition she wear an electronic tether.
