Macomb County man charged in fatal drug case, child exploitation offense
(CBS DETROIT) – A Macomb County man is facing charges in connection with selling drugs resulting in death and possessing child pornography.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office says the man, 36, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, delivery of fentanyl less than 50 grams, delivery of a controlled substance less than 50 grams and three counts of child sexually abusive material.
On Nov. 17, 2023, a 30-year-old woman overdosed near Romeo Plank Road and Clinton River Road in Clinton Township. The prosecutor's office says a police investigation determined the man allegedly sold the woman the drugs that led to her death.
A warrant to arrest the man was authorized on Tuesday. While executing the warrant, police found the man had cocaine on him and discovered child sexually abusive material on his phone, according to the prosecutor's office.
"The defendant's alleged actions reflect a deeply disturbing disregard for both human life and the welfare of our most vulnerable," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a release Friday.
A probable cause hearing in connection with the fatal drug case is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12. The next day, a hearing is set for the aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material charges.
