Macomb County Chamber Wants Businesses And Residents To Be 'Super Prepared'

STERLING HEIGHTS (CBS Detroit) - The Macomb County Chamber is working with local first responders and area hospitals to host a "Super Prepared" conference for businesses and the public Tuesday at Freedom Hill County Park.

The day-long conference will feature a morning of workshops for businesses on topics including cyber protection, preparedness and response to public health hazards, business continuity planning and disaster recovery.

In the afternoon, local first repsonders including the Macomb County SWAT Team, Macomb Sheriff's K-9 unit and the SWAT Mini-CALIBER Robot will conduct free demonstrations.

Dave McIntyre, an emergency program manager with Macomb County, told the Macomb Daily that with the recent heavy rains and flooding, tornado in Oakland County, along with the recent power outages, business and home owners have to prepare for a variety of disasters that can strike at any time and to anyone.

He added that the event will provide attendees how to be more prepared to respond to emergencies when they occur.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
