Lt. Governor Brian Calley Endorses John Kasich Ahead Of Michigan Primary
LANSING (WWJ) - Michigan in the national spotlight ahead of the presidential primary Tuesday with a flurry of political activity and candidates circling the state.
One of those candidates is getting the nod from the state's second in charge.
Ohio Governor, Republican John Kasich is getting big props from Michigan's Lt. Governor Brian Calley saying Kasich's record is extensive.
"Things like, how he was chief architect of balancing the federal budget the last time that that happened, or how he grew the Ohio economy was really down when he became governor and grew it to a point where now they boast over 400,000 private sector jobs created," Calley told WWJ's Jason Scott.
Like it or not, some pretty big headlines have been made here in Michigan lately -- most of them not-so-good. Flint water being among the biggest issues and Calley made reference to the topic focused on during the Democratic debate held in Flint Sunday night.
"In a few days those candidates are going to pull up stakes and leave Michigan and we are still going to be here working with the people of Flint to get past this crisis and work with the people at Detroit public schools to make sure that every single kid in our state has the opportunity at a high quality education."
No word from Governor Rick Synder as to whom he'll endorse for the presidential nomination.
