Look Up! International Space Station To Fly Over Metro Detroit

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Star gazers will have a chance to see the International Space Station flyover Metro Detroit Thursday night.

The space station will be visible starting at 6:16 p.m. Thursday, first appearing in the west-southwest sky and will fly across the sky before disappearing into the northeast sky.

The station will visible for only three minutes, according to NASA.

Currently, the International Space Station has six crew members including two American astronauts. Expedition 42 Commander Barry Wilmore, a NASA astronaut, took a photo of the Great Lakes from the space station.

The photo of an illuminated Detroit, and Great Lakes region, was liked 1,200 times on Facebook, retweeted 2,300 times and favorited 2,700 times on Twitter.
