Lockdown Lifted After Security Breach At Detroit Metro Airport

ROMULUS (WWJ/AP) - A lockdown has been lifted at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after a man went through a closed security checkpoint.

Airport spokesman Michael Conway said the man went through the exit lane of a closed passenger screening checkpoint at the McNamara Terminal around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, ignoring a security guard's warning to stop.

Conway said the man was identified through security footage and taken into the custody of airport police. Reports say he's expected to be charged with violating an airport ordinance.

Parts of the terminal were locked down for about an hour as Transportation Security Administration officials and airport police investigated. The terminal was fully cleared shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The lockdown delayed about 10 flights.
