Lions Resting Many Starters In Preseason Finale

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson are among several Detroit Lions starters being held out of the team's preseason finale at Buffalo on Thursday night.

Other Lions' starters getting a rest include defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, running back Reggie Bush, receiver Golden Tate, tight end Brandon Pettigrew and center Dominic Raiola.

Backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky is listed as the starter.

Detroit (2-1) will open the season by hosting the New York Giants on Sept. 8.

The Bills (1-3) are resting cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Corey Graham and tight ends Scott Chandler, Lee Smith (toe) and Tony Moeaki.

Bills rookie receiver Sammy Watkins is available to play after missing last weekend's loss to Tampa Bay because of bruised ribs.

Buffalo opens the season at Chicago on Sept. 7.
