Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Selected To Play In BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Detroit Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been selected to play in the 2015 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star 2015, the league announced today.
The league's annual showcase of premier young talent will debut a format that pits 10 first- and second-year NBA players from the United States against 10 first- and second-year NBA players from around the world. The game, set for Friday, Feb. 13, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, will be televised live by TNT at 9 p.m. ET, part of Turner Sports' 30th year of All-Star coverage.
Caldwell-Pope, 21, is averaging 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.09 steals and 31.6 minutes in 46 games this season (all starts). The 6-foot-5 guard has improved his scoring average by 5.9 points per game, which ranks tied for second in the NBA (among players playing in 75% of their teams' games in both seasons), and his 11.8 points per game average ranks fourth among NBA sophomores. The Georgia native has connected on 84 three-point field goals this season, the most by a current player 21 or younger.
